In the first 4koma volume, the Iced Land king that was transformed into a Monty Mole in the Super Mario Bros. 3 remakes can be seen in the "7 Kings" (7人の王さま) strip alongside the other transformed kings when Peach asks which of the kings is her father. In the "GO! GO! Mario Paint ~Part 3~" (GO! GO! マリオペイント ~その③~) story, a Monty Mole and a Mega Mole can be seen singing karaoke, as well as watching an anime with everyone. Later on in the same story, a Monty Mole alongside various other characters can be seen wearing Mario masks on Valentine's Day. In the "Mario to the Depths of the Earth" (マリオ地底へ) strip, a Monty Mole jumps onto Mario, with Mario then thinking the Monty Mole is an item that can take him underground.

Monty Moles make their final appearance in the manga in the third Super Mario 64 volume, in which several Monty Moles pelt Mario with rocks on his way up Tall, Tall Mountain. Ukkiki continues to help Mario climb up Tall, Tall, Mountain, but the Monty Moles quickly dig up in order to ambush them. Unfortunately, the Monty Moles are quickly crushed by the Iron Balls, falling into the abyss in the process.

In Mario Kart DS, Monty Moles return as obstacles in Peach Gardens, as well as the returning N64. This game features Monty Moles with their modern design, but their behaviors are the same as they were in Mario Kart 64. In Mission 3-6, Luigi is task to hit five Monty Moles with Green Shells in N64. In this game, Rocky Wrenches look somewhat similar to Monty Moles, though their designs are not as similar as in the later games that came after New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

In Mario Kart Wii, Monty Moles appear as obstacles in Moo Moo Meadows, as well as returning in DS. Monty Moles also appear as audience members in other courses as well. Monty Moles are now depicted much bigger than in previous games, as well as now being able to dig under the ground before jumping out. However, Monty Moles are still stationary obstacles in DS like in previous games.

Monty Moles originally used their model from Super Mario 64 DS and New Super Mario Bros., as well as having a different jumping animation as a placeholder. This unused model and animation for Monty Mole was likely used as just placeholder before making the final model and animations.
