In Mario Kart Tour, Goombas reprise their role as obstacles, appearing in many stages and stage variants as obstacles. They are the main focus of "Goomba Takedown" challenges, where they may appear in large formations, most of the time in Goomba Towers. In this game, Goombas can be bowled over by simply driving into them, although this also causes the driver to spin out like in other Mario Kart games unless they are invincible or under the effects of a Mega Mushroom. They can also be defeated by landing on them while gliding or after driving off a ramp, giving the driver a Jump Boost. For normal course variants they are found on all versions of Paris Promenade, as well as Singapore Speedway, RMX Mario Circuit 1, Wii, Wii, 3DS, and 3DS. Floaty Goombas are also obstacles in Singapore Speedway.
In Mario Kart Tour, Goombas are obstacles in many stages and stage variants. They are the main focus of "Goomba Takedown" challenges, where they may appear in large formations, with the goal of defeating as many as possible in a single lap. Unlike other Mario Kart games, Goombas can be bowled over by driving into them, but this still causes the racer to spin out. Additionally, a Goomba can now also be defeated by landing on them while gliding or after driving off a ramp, giving the driver a Jump Boost. For normal course variants, Goombas are found on all versions of Paris Promenade, as well as Singapore Speedway, Athens Dash 2, Madrid Drive, RMX Mario Circuit 1, DS Mario Circuit, Wii Mushroom Gorge, Wii Koopa Cape, 3DS Mario Circuit, and 3DS Piranha Plant Slide. The wooden cutouts of Goombas in 3DS Piranha Plant Slide also return. Innertube Goombas also make their debut in this game, appearing in Singapore Speedway and GCN Daisy Cruiser. The giant Innertube Goomba that appears in Squeaky Clean Sprint is replaced by a Toy Goomba in this game. In the "Goomba Takedown" challenges, Goombas may appear in the form of Goomba Towers. Shoe Goombas also make their Mario Kart debut as an obstacle in Madrid Drive.

A Goomba makes its playable debut in the Mario Kart series in Mario Kart World. Like other armless characters like the Snowman and Coin Coffer, it is able to steer its vehicle despite its lack of arms, akin to how the playable Goomba held the baseball bat and glove in the Super Mario Stadium games as well as in Super Mario Party and Super Mario Party Jamboree. Its emblem is taken from Mario Party: The Top 100, which consists of a stylized depiction of its head, though its eyes lack pupils.
