''Super Mario 3D Land'' PRIMA Official Game Guide, page 15.</ref> However, starting in their appearance in the ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe]]'' [[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass|Booster Course Pass]], Rocky Wrenches now have a design more reminiscent of their original one in ''Super Mario Bros. 3'', having brown, pointy snouts, white claws, and blue goggles with thin, white straps, as well as having their shell on their back again. However, they still retain a couple details from their previous, more Monty Mole-like design, such as the white stomach, and their goggles being round.

In ''[[Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3]]'', a Rocky Wrench appears on the cover and title screen for the game. Additionally, Rocky Wrenches also appear in a few [[World-e]] levels as well.

After a 21 year hiatus from the mainline titles, Rocky Wrenches would once again reappear in ''[[New Super Mario Bros. Wii]]'', exclusively appearing in the [[World 6-Airship (New Super Mario Bros. Wii)|airship]] of [[World 6 (New Super Mario Bros. Wii)|World 6]]. Their behavior is largely unchanged from their first appearance, though the potential vertical movement of their wrenches is lessened. Aside from being susceptible to stomps, Rocky Wrenches can also be frozen by [[Ice Mario]]. Unlike in ''Super Mario Bros. 3'', Rocky Wrenches do not respawn after being defeated in this game and nearly every game following it. Starting with with this game, Rocky Wrenches would get a major redesign to make them look nearly identical to [[Monty Mole]], however, Rocky Wrenches would still keep their signature goggles and manhole lid.

Rocky Wrenches would make their ''[[Mario Party (series)|Mario Party]]'' series debut in ''[[Super Mario Party Jamboree]]'', where they can be seen depicted on a few posters found on the board [[Rainbow Galleria]]. This is also the first ''Mario'' title to use Rocky Wrench's new redesign from the ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe]]'' ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass|Booster Course Pass]]'' DLC (though their design in this game has been slightly tweaked to show visible fangs similarly to the fangs they initially had in their ''[[Super Mario Bros. 3]]'' design)

Starting with ''[[New Super Mario Bros. Wii]]'', Rocky Wrench would be redesigned, now without the shell from their older designs and looking nearly identical to Monty Mole besides the lid and goggles. From this game onwards, Rocky Wrench would keep this look (outside of retro appearances and the older styles in the ''[[Super Mario Maker]]'' games).

Unlike their relative, Monty Mole, Rocky Wrenches have not talked a lot throughout English ''Mario'' media. The first time a Rocky Wrench spoke in any known English ''Mario'' media was in the ''Nintendo Adventure Book'' ''Monster Mix-Up'', where a Rocky Wrench shouted that someone was on the side of the bowl (which were Mario and [[Toad]]). Rocky Wrenches would not speak in the games until much later in ''[[Paper Mario: Color Splash]]'', where they would make various comments during a battle. However, Rocky Wrenches never had an accent in the few pieces of English ''Mario'' media that they spoke in up until ''[[Paper Mario: The Origami King]]'', which gave Rocky Wrenches a {{wp|Canadian English|Canadian accent}} (unlike Monty Moles, who had a country accent instead in most games they spoke in).
