While Rocky Wrenches never appeared in the original ''[[Mario Kart 8]]'' (unlike their relative [[Monty Mole]]), they would appear in its [[Nintendo Switch]] remake ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe]]'' during the final wave of the ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass|Booster Course Pass]]'' DLC.  They reappear exclusively in [[Rome Avanti]], functioning similarly to their appearances in past ''Mario Kart'' titles. For the first time in the ''Mario'' series since ''[[New Super Mario Bros. Wii]]'', Rocky Wrenches are now given a completely new redesign that more closely resembles their original appearance from ''[[Super Mario Bros. 3]]'', including the shell on their back. Interestingly enough, this is the first ever ''Mario Kart'' game where Rocky Wrenches do not appear in [[Airship Fortress]].
